All our holiday rental villas are situated in or around the picturesque area of Apokoronas where you will find excellent beaches, surfing and water sports, Tavernas, shops and supermarkets. Almirida is only a few minutes drive away from the village of Kefalas.

Whilst around the area of Chania (pronounced Hania) and Rethymno (Rethmyion) look at the tall Venetian and Turkish buildings that surround you - a visit to the Old town is a must! The famous Venetian market building in Chania is in the shape of a cross. In the narrow streets behind the harbour you will find Restaurants, Bars and many local shops selling handicrafts, textiles, jewellery and hand made ceramics. Kalyves

It is a beautiful village by the sea of Souda bay. A small river crosses the area and by its sides there are plenty of hotels, rooms to let, restaurants and coffee shops, souvenirs shops. The beach, extending for 300 m., just before the entrance of the village is of golden sand with green-blue waters. From Kalives driving towards the national road and following the sign to Megala Chorafia, is Aptera, having prehistorical, ancient and roman ruins with nice sea view. This is a interesting spot and one of the most important archeological sights of Chania area. A must, for those who are interested in history and archeology.

Almyrida

A small tourist resort by the sea. Here you can see the ruins of 11th century basilica, with mosaics. The two small golden sand-beaches are ideal for swimming. There are plenty of family run-taverns serving fresh fish and seafood stand by the bay.

Gavalohori

It is a traditional village with lovely stone built houses and nice secret corners (Venetian arches, Romans tombs). It was named after the royal family of Gavalades, who acquired it by casting a lot when Crete was divided between the 12 Byzantine princes in 1182. Five hundred meters from the village, one you can see several Byzantine Wells built during the time of Gavalades, on a landscape of rare beauty. It is a must. Gavalohori has a lovely Folklore museum and a Women’s Co-op which has developed the fine art of handicrafts such as knitting, embroidery, and lace-making.

Armeni

It is built on a verdant landscape, covered by huge plane-trees whose roots are watered by natural springs that irrigate most of the district. It obtained its name from the first inhabitants, the Armenians(961 A.D.), who served in Nikiforos Phokas army liberating Crete from the Arabs. The abundance of water irrigateing the entire area has turned Armeni into a huge “orchard” full of fruit-bearing trees and flowers.

Kefalas

Situated to the northeast of Vamos, is a wonderful traditional village with a rich preservation of local architecture and impressive old village churches. It owns its name to the first residents there, called Kephalades, the leaders of the Byzantine settlers sent to Crete in 1182 by Alexios Komninos. It is worthwhile to take a swim in the deep waters next to the steep coast northeast of the village (Obrosialos bay).

Vrisses

It is situated in the centre of the Vrisses valley on the way Sfakia. It is rather a new village, developed after 1925, on two “hania” (inns) which were there to accommodate the merchants and travellers to and from Sfakia. Now it is an important traffic junction with beautiful natural surroundings, rich in green area due to the Vryssano river which flows through it. On the way to Rethymnon, to the east of the village, there is an ancient bridge of the Greco-Roman times the so-called Elliniki Kamara (The Greek Arch).

Georgioupolis

A community by the sea, built on the mouth of a beautiful river. It has become a sea resort with many hotels, restaurants, taverns and coffee shops. The towering eucalyptus trees along the river banks, and the golden sand beach – extending from the river mouth to 10 km eastwards - are forming a quite pleasant place for sun and sea, (specially the dune beach, after the big hotels), only 10 km away from Vamos.
